Telescope Recycler
This is a beta version for this website. If you have any questions or suggestions, please call 207 458-6799
Like the name says; we recycle telescopes.
We buy used telescopes for resale or recycling. Our goal is to offer good used entry level telescopes to the new astronomer. We do not deal in high end visual or astrophotography telescopes or mounts.
All our scopes are cleaned before inspection and if they pass inspection, they are adjusted, lubricated, and collimated, as needed. All computer scopes are reset to original factory settings. These telescopes are than sold through our website and other online sales sites. Those telescopes that do not pass inspection are broken down into their reusable parts for DIY repairs.
Most of the manufacturers and resellers of amateur telescopes have a very limited supply of repair parts. For amateur astronomer wanting to repair their own telescope, this is a real challenge and for older telescopes and mounts it's even more difficult. Our parts inventory is limited, at this time, but we are growing the inventory everyday. Drop us an email and let us know what you need; we'll do our best to find it for you.
A broken finder mount, a tripod spider brace or any simple component should not relegate your telescope to the closet or basement. We have recently added a 3D printer to our shop and will be printing redesigned replacements parts soon.
Telescopes seldom ware out, but they do get broken and if the worst happens we'll do our best to help. Take a pictures of your scope, the I.D. tag and the damaged part, if you have it. Please send us several pictures of the part from different angles and for accuracy, place a ruler next to the part before taking the pictures. If the part is missing, follow the same procedure but take several pictures (include the ruler) of where the part should attached to the telescope or tripod. Send these pictures with a brief description of the problem with the make, model, aperture and focal length of the telescope. Do the same for tripod parts.
If you have a telescope you're no longer using, even if it needs repair, send us a few pictures with your asking price; we may be interested .
Thank you for visiting,
